I have beaten every other mission on Brutal except this one. Having to deal with so many attacks and not having access to Improved SCVs really hurts your ability to swiftly build a defense.
Not to mention that even if you get a strong bio ball together, it could still get flattened. And Shrike Turrets honestly suck compared to Reinforced Bunkers. Doesn't help that Terran is my worst race. =/ Any ideas?
I was thinking to try making Orbital Depot walls, but that might not cut it. EDIT: Finally did it. Mass Siege Tanks, Planetary Fortresses and Missile Turrets (or Vikings) at your base and Artanis', and use Spectres at Zagara's base. No enemy detection means your Spectres (with their perma-cloaking) will be able to shoot stuff up with impunity. May want a Science Vessel or two if you can afford it to repair your mech units. Bio is crap in this mission; they die too fast to splash attacks.
Well some suggestion: 1.user mercenaries often they are op units that come down instantly. They also serve for fast remax when you lose a lot. • using kerrigan can actually we useful to gain time. If i remember correctly waves are triggered by perent. Like the last wave happens at 90% or something like that. If you are losing spam the cannon and remax. • keep artanis and sagara alive.
Specially artanis. He is an idiot that will die in super fast if you don't help. They are actually very useful and once they are gone the extra entrance is a pain to cover.
• as for composition I just spammed tanks at the start and added some marines to move around and kill flying units. Obviously when you are maxed you want to spam planetary fortresses and turrets everywhere. This mission is one of the most difficult to beat on brutal, however, if you are not trying to get the achievement (can only use Kerrigan's attack so many times on hard+) it shouldn't be that bad. Try to keep everyone alive, which typically means bouncing tanks, and later vikings, between zagara and artanis. You don't have to worry about your second expansion ramp until much later.but eventually, you will want planetary fortress walls on both of them, with tanks behind, and turrets everywhere else. Make sure you pull SCVs to repair any time a ramp is attacked. Since you aren't going for the achievement, use kerrigan's attack on ANYTHING big.
Especially ultralisks, battlecruisers, brood lords, and carriers. They are all quite capable of devastating your static defenses, and even when you're GOING for the achievement, you really need to save your Kerrigan attacks for those specific waves.
It is likely that eventually Artanis/Zagara will die, and you will need to be prepared for that by building a planetary fortress wall at the large southern ramp and setting up tanks behind it, with SCVs to repair, and lots of turrets as well. Tank/viking is the strategy you want. All other units are useless in this mission. A few bunkers are okay early game.but they just don't do enough later. Make sure you get your weapon/armor upgrades at the armory as well.you should be 3/3 by the time Kerrigan charges to 90%.
The Essence of Eternity is one of the final missions in the game, and as such is part of the. For this mission, you will be playing as the Terran.
You need to defend Kerrigan as he powers up, along with your allies, but you only control the Terran for this mission, as well as Kerrigan. The best strategy for this mission, is the use of Siege Tanks. You can use them to reinforce your own defenses, along with your allies. Get your base going, and make sure to add on the Tech Reactors to your buildings. While building out your SCVs, make sure to also claim the second base, and set up a few more Bunkers, to reinforce the ones already placed. Fill them with Marines and the odd Marauder, and then once you have the funds, begin setting up tanks behind them. Although the game warns against using Kerrigan, feel free to do so.
Her power is so great that it's worth the time loss. Anytime you see Carriers, Battlecruisers, or other major targets, snipe them with Kerrigans power. It makes a huge difference, and proper use can make or break the map. Once you begin getting a surplus of cash, get a second factory and build extra tanks. This time, send them to your allies and put them into Siege mode on the front lines.
Each ally should get between 4-6 tanks. This should be enough to prevent them from getting wiped out, at least for now. While building the tanks for your allies, you should also build up a small mobile army of Barracks units. Mostly Marines is fine, with some Medics and the odd Marauder for heavy damage. This army is fast, and should be deployed to support your allies, only returning to your base if absolutely necessary. Don't forget to make use of the Mercenary units either.
They can be called in quickly, and are generally not that expensive. Your own defenses should hold fine with Bunkers and Tanks, just make sure an SCV is nearby to heal. Your allies will be the real challenge, so make sure any additional troops you can make are sent to them. The Protoss in particular seem to struggle, so you'll need to heavily help them. As the match goes on, Amon sends more and more towards you.
Again, don't be afraid to use Kerrigan, specially against air targets as they are going to be the hardest to deal with. Once Kerrigan hits 100%, the mission will end.
